William N. Whelan

Chairman

With a career that spans 33 years of experience in development, construction, property management and information services Bill Whelan founded Whelan Associates in 2001 in order to return to the hands-on business of developing an entrepreneurial company providing real estate service to his home turf of the south coast of Massachusetts.

Prior to founding Whelan Associates, Bill was the Chairman of Spaulding and Slye Colliers International, a comprehensive real estate services firm in Boston, MA. Spaulding and Slye became a real estate industry leader during his 29-year tenure with the help of many successful projects that he was responsible for, including development of the $500 million 125 High Street Tower in Boston.

During Bill’s tenure at Spaulding and Slye he was also the driving force behind expanding their employee base and resources from only 35 people in 1973 to 600 people upon his departure. From project management to strategic planning Bill has the knowledge and experience to successfully integrate all facets of real estate corporate services into the SouthCoast market where he has maintained his residence throughout his life and career.

President

Bill has 15 years of experience in property management, tenant construction and brokerage services.

Prior to being one of the founding principles of Whelan Associates, Bill served as Vice President of State Street Corporation in Boston, MA where he supervised the Property Services Department managing four million square feet of domestic office space. He also served as the Mergers and Acquisitions Leasing Officer at State Street Corporation.

Bill’s expertise in project management, property management and brokerage has been garnering through experience at companies such as Spaulding and Slye Colliers in Washington, D.C. and Leggat McCall Properties in Boston, MA.

Marie I. Audette

Senior Vice President

Marie started her career with Whelan Associates in 2006 as an Executive Assistant. In this role, Marie learned the various aspects of the business. This led to a position in Human Resources and eventually a promotion to Senior Vice President.

Marie oversees all the divisions of the company including, janitorial, property management, facilities, leasing and construction. Her driven attitude and exceptional leadership have resulted in consistent business growth across all divisions.

In her spare time Marie enjoys being a grandmother to all her grandchildren, enjoys time with her children and traveling and spending time with her husband.

Marie holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology.

William J. Martin

Senior Property Manager

With over 35 years of Facilities Management experience in Hospitals, Industry, and a Nation-wide university, Bill Martin brings to the team a breadth of knowledge including the design of mechanical and electrical systems, preventative maintenance, infrastructure, construction, and control systems.

Before joining Whelan Associates, Bill was Hospital Safety Officer and Director of Facilities for Good Samaritan Medical Center, Steward Healthcare’s busiest hospital. He led the hospital through the trying times during the Covid-19 pandemic, ensuring that staff, visitors, and patients remained safe, and the hospital operated at peak performance at a time when the hospital’s census was double normal operating capacity. Before that, Bill helped in the development of campuses in Charlotte, NC and Miami FL as Executive Director of Facilities for Johnson & Wales University.

As the leader of Whelan’s Property Management team, Bill uses his extensive experience in facilities management, design, and construction to operate and maintain spaces for Whelan’s clientele effectively and efficiently.

Jason Camara

Vice President – Construction

Jason has been with Whelan Associates for 13 years. Jason’s previous experience included 10 years of General Contracting in his own business.

Jason joined WA as a maintenance technician and rose through the ranks to Vice President of Construction. Jason has managed projects with varying degrees of complexity.

Jason provides leadership to clients/tenants in developing thoughtful strategies for achieving their goals from inception through completion.  He has led multiple projects with varied clients such as Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Greater Boston Urology, and Southcoast Hospital Group
